Hi, I’m Jess, the Marketing Content Specialist at Scale. Have you noticed that pretty much every business today has a blog on their website? As more and more marketers start to see the value in digital content, the amount of competition on the Internet is increasing exponentially every day.
But what is it all for? Why is everyone producing so much content?
It all comes back to marketing. The strategy that goes into content marketing can help your business’s website get found and followed online. That’s why I’m here to give you five key pieces to an effective content marketing strategy.
Number One: Every piece of content that lives on your website should be optimized around keywords that highlight your products, services, and overall industry expertise.
The key to this first piece is knowing exactly what your business wants to be known for and staying on message with every piece of content you generate. Having a clear focus will help you rank better in search engines.
Number Two: Your website should have a blog that allows you to consistently present and defend your industry expertise. You want to make sure the people searching for solutions online understand that you’re not just A source – but THE source – for information in your industry.
Word to the wise: Create a marketing calendar for your website so you are consistently producing keyword-focused content. Your content marketing strategy could easily go off track if you aren’t planning accordingly
Number Three: Your website needs to have some comment sections and forms built into it. Allow your website visitors to volunteer information to you. Not only will this help you get a better idea of who is reading your content, but it will help you generate more content ideas. Let your readers feed your blog and your strategy!
Number Four: The information requested in your website forms should lead to the formation of email lists.
Once a reader is comfortable enough to fill out a form, you should start emailing them with something like a newsletter. Send them exclusive content, promotions, company news or product updates — anything that helps them stay involved with what you’re up to!
Number Five: There are no two ways around it – Everyone is on social media. Your business should be, too! All of the content you’re producing — be that video, photos, or blog posts — should be shared on social media to help you find followers on twitter, facebook, instagram, linkedin, and more.
If you see a platform where you could reach your target audience, you should be producing content for that platform.
Well, there you go — five key pieces in an effective content marketing strategy. If you have any questions about your company’s website design, social media, or content marketing strategy, contact Scale for a free consultation today!
